Joshua Cherkinsky is the Chief Executive Officer at Cherktek Consulting, LLC; a San Antonio based Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business that provides consulting services to commercial and government organizations.
Joshua’s background in change management and in-depth knowledge of defense accounting practices enables him to develop solutions that provide actionable, time-sensitive information to his customers allowing them to proactively and effectively manage their financial position.
Josh graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2003 and spent 7 years active duty in the comptroller career field, and continues to serve in the Air Force Reserves as a Financial Management Officer.
Josh received his MBA from Webster University in 2006, and he took advantage of the Air Force
Education-with-Industry program in 2007, where he served as an executive intern to the CFO of Raytheon Intelligence and information Systems.
In July of 2008 he was assigned to Andrews AFB as the 316th Wing Budget Officer/Deputy Comptroller
In October 2009 he was competitively selected to the Harvard Business School High Potentials Leadership Program.
In January of 2010, was deployed to Afghanistan as the Afghan National Army Budget Officer at Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan (CSTC-A). In this position he developed funding strategies to balance $6.6B of requirements in building the Afghan National Security Forces.
In January 2011, Joshua served as the Director of Business Development for a small defense contractor and he was responsible for implementing and executing the company's growth plan CONUS and OCONUS. He was responsible for networking with strategic industry partners and routinely represents the company at conferences events. He is a regular speaker at the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) National Professional Development Institute (PDI).
